SpaceX Dragon makes history by docking with ISS

| May 25, 2012 | 0 Comments

After several decades of NASA controlling the ability to launch into space, SpaceX launched its first successful rocket on the morning of May 22, 2012, making it the first private corporation to launch into space. Its mission is to rendezvous with the International Space Station by having the space station’s grappling arm hook onto the SpaceX Dragon capsule and dock it with the ISS. The astronauts on the ISS will then load the contents of the capsule onto the ISS, and fill it with return cargo which will go back to Earth two weeks later.

This morning, the Dragon capsule successfully docked with the ISS, making it the first time a space mission by a private corporation docked with the ISS.
